New Mexico native, Sara Litchfield, began performing on the opera stage at age fifteen with Albuquerque's Opera Southwest. Since then, Sara has performed throughout the United States with New Orleans Opera, Chicago Opera Theater, Cedar Rapids Opera Theater and Opera in the Ozarks. Miss Litchfield appears extensively throughout the Chicago area including performances in leading roles with Elgin Opera, The Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company of Chicago and Opera Playhouse.
A "passionate and captivating performer", Sara Litchfield's stage repertoire encompasses a wide range of operatic roles. This season, she will be performing the role of the Mother and Witch in Opera for the Young's production of Hansel and Gretel. Other operatic roles include Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Stephano in Roméo et Juliette, Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi, Flora in La Traviata and La Maestra di Novizie and La Primera Cercatrice in Sour Angelica.
Miss Litchfield performed in opera scenes as Dorabella, Cherubino, Romeo (I Capuletti e i Montecchi), Erika (Vanessa), Mistress Page (The Merry Wives of Windsor) and Tisbe (La Cenerentola) as well as operetta roles such as Constance in The Sorcerer and The Duchess in The Gondoliers.
Miss Litchfield holds a Master of Music in Voice Performance from Chicago College of Performing Arts, Roosevelt University and a Bachelor of Music from Loyola University New Orleans. She currently studies with renowned mezzo-soprano and Novo's Principal Artist, Tracy Watson.
