AUDITION PREPARTION:
Part I
This portion of our workshop deals with the many issues facing the emerging artist in real audition situations. From the stage director who doesn't even look at you to the music director who insists on giving you a voice lesson, whether you actually need it or not, we will teach you to prepare mentally and physically for any audition situation.
Questions addressed include:
How do I center myself?
How do I focus my energy?
How do I dress for success?
How do I present myself as a professional?
How do I create an effective atmosphere?
How do I form a clear characterization?
How do I deal with a mistake or a memory lapse?
How do I deal with a poor or unfamiliar accompanist?
Our work is one-on-one and customized to each participant.
BOTTOM LINE: Giving a good audition is not enough.
The artist who gives the best "performance" is the artist who gets the job!
Part II
In these sessions, we simulate real and varied audition situations. The singer puts into practice the skills worked on in Part I. The singer presents his/her audition and then is given specific constructive feedback. After analysis and discussion, the singer auditions again, incorporating the items addressed by the feedback.
The value of these sessions is enormous since the singer will experience the pressure of an audition, but not have the burden of having a job or their career being on the line.
CAREER PLANNING:
Being successful in the music world, whether you an emerging artist or a star, is not solely about natural talent or training.
The complete professional must be aware of and comfortable with diverse business issues intrinsic to making a career in classical music.
Knowing how "to do business" makes all the difference.
In this workshop we will:
- help the artist structure a business plan
- provide guidance to the artist in defining career goals
- aid the artist in putting together his/her creative team, ie, teacher, coach, agent or manager
- to devise an effective marketing plan
These sessions will equip the emerging artist with the inside knowledge and reality checks necessary to get started the right way.
