BIOGRAPHY
Elyse Kakacek is a dedicated young soprano with an open-minded, curious, and fearless approach to performing. This mindset was instilled in her from the age of twelve when she began to perform with the Children's Chorus of Lyric Opera of Chicago.
Since that time she has been seen in various stage roles including Gherardina in Gianni Schicchi, Gretel, Spring in The Fairy Queen, Zerlina, Susanna, Papagena, Second Lady, Poppea, and the Third Gossip in Noye's Fludde.
She has performed with The Gilbert and Sullivan Company of Chicago, The Savoyaires and the DePaul Opera Theatre. She made her musical theatre debut at age seventeen as Dari in a middle-eastern pop-opera Sitaram with Lookingglass Theatre.
She debuts as Peep-Bo and Yum-Yum in The Mikado with Petite Opera Productions, April 20 through May 5, 2012.
On the concert stage, she has appeared as soloist in Mendelssohn's Elijah (The Youth), and in Schubert's Mass in G.
Miss Kakacek is honored to be a member of the Black Box Acting Studio family where she has completed four levels of study in the Sanford Meisner Method.
She has participated in several summer training programs including Operaworks, The Amalfi Coast Music Festival and the Opera Training Institute of Chicago.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance from DePaul University and currently studies voice with Winifred Faix Brown in Chicago.
