BIOGRAPHY
Born in Latina, Italy, Marco Minà began guitar studies at an early age. He completed his musical studies in Milan at the G. Verdi Conservatory of Music under the direction of Professor Ruggero Chiesa and graduated with high honors. He also studied Aesthetics and the History of Music at the Università La Sapienza in Rome where he graduated Cum laude, under the supervision of Professor Pierluigi Petrobelli.
He holds Master's Degrees in Instrumental Pedagogy and Performance from the Conservatoire of Music L. Refice in Frosinone and L' Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali Vecchi-Tonelli in Modena. He is also holds degrees in lute and continuo playing from Santa Cecilia in Rome and Conservatorio A. Boito in Parma.
Mr. Minà participated in masterclasses with Oscar Ghiglia and Ruggero Chiesa at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, with Bruno Canino and Alexander Lonquich at the Campus Internazionale di Musica at the Sermoneta Caetani Castle and at the Amici della Musica in Firenze, and at the Scuola Superiore Internazionale of Trio di Trieste where he earned a "Diploma di Merito."
He currently is Professor of Guitar at the Scuola Civica di Musica G: Verdi in Prato, at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali Vecchi-Tonelli in Modena, and of the History of Performing Arts from Renaissance to Contemporary Music at the G. Frescobaldi Conservatory of Music in Ferrara.
With repertoire ranging from Renaissance, Baroque, classical and romantic compositions played on original instruments to every direction of contemporary music played on modern and experimental instruments, Mr. Minà has won several prizes at both the national and international level in solo and chamber music categories including awards from the International Competition City of Stresa, Grosseto, Camaiore, Cento, Premio Rovere d'Oro, and the Prix F. Liszt in Paris.
He has performed in recital and given master classes throughout Italy and Europe including at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Campus Internazionale di Musica-Festival Pontino in Sermoneta Caetani Castle, AGIMUS in Rome, Cooperativa G. Verdi in Latina, Associazione Romana Amici della Musica, Associazione Amici di Castel S. Angelo and Associazione Musicale F. Liszt in Rome, ARTIS in Verona, Grandezze & Meraviglie in Modena.
As generous as he is talented, Mr. Minà regularly gives concerts to benefit Caritas International, UILDM Lotta alla Distrofia Muscolare, Ecole Normale in Paris, the Sir Yehudi Menuhin School in Stoke d'Abernon in Surrey-England, and King's College, the Bryanston School in Dorset-England, and Salisbury Cathedral.
He has performed as special guest soloist at St. Martin in the Fields, the Royal Academy, the Incorporated Society of Musicians, and BBC Proms in London, Mirbacov Palac in Bratislava-Rep. Slovakia, Marmorsaal der Sektkelleri Henkel & Co. In Wiesbaden-Germany, Italia-Musica, Theresianischen Akademie and Klangboge n Sommer in Vienna, as solo guitarist with the Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, and in 1992 as guest guitarist at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Hamburg and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
Marco Minà has frequently collaborated not only in performing and drama, but also in educational pursuits with many distinguished artists including Hans Werner Henze, Alexander Lonquich, Lavinia Bertotti, Manuela Mandracchia, Furio Zanasi, Riccardo Minasi, Eduardo Eguez, Luca Giardini, Gabriella Martellacci.
He has recorded for BBC Radio 3, RAI Radio 3, Radio Vaticana, Radio France, Slovak and Österreiches Radio and currently records and publishes with NovAntiqua2.
